About the Role
With opportunities for professional development and career growth, the Heritage Consultant position offers a chance to work across Australia in the fields of Archaeology and Anthropology to facilitate positive outcomes for Aboriginal cultural heritage protection and management.
The position will require a combination of skills in office-based project management, in-field heritage surveys, site recording and reporting.
The role requires strong organisational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, flexibility, adaptability and the ability to work effectively either independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines and ensure high-quality deliverables.
The successful candidate/s need to be able to demonstrate how you engage with Traditional Owners, Aboriginal Corporations clients and other key stakeholders to facilitate effective project outcomes and foster positive relationships.
Being based in Noongar Boodja (south-west WA), the position/s will allow the successful candidates to live and work in some of the most culturally significant and naturally beautiful areas of Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities
* Conducting Aboriginal cultural heritage and Historic heritage surveys and assessments across a range of natural landscapes.
* Identifying and recording heritage places and cultural values in the field.
* Ensuring that field activities adhere to ALS policies and procedures.
* Managing and collating field data while ensuring its accuracy and quality.
* Assisting with field logistics and project coordination.
* Undertaking quality reporting of field survey outcomes to deadline.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with Traditional Owners, clients and other stakeholders.
* Working collaboratively within a team environment to meet project deadlines.

Essential Criteria
To be considered for this role, you must have:
* A minimum of an Undergraduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology.
* Experience in undertaking fieldwork in Aboriginal cultural heritage and/or Historic heritage.
* Familiarity with state and federal heritage legislation.
* A valid [manual] C-class driving license.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* The ability to work effectively and efficiently in isolation or in a team environment.
* Provision of current CV, inclusive of at least 2 professional references.

Desirable Criteria
* Experience working in the south west of WA.
* 4WD experience.
* Residing in/willing to relocate to the south west of WA
* Experience in the application of environmental management principles as they apply to Aboriginal cultural heritage.
