**Opportunity Shop Retail Assistant (Casual One Day a week 11:00am - 5:30 pm )**
**About us**
For over 30 years St. Marks has run a community centre to serve the people of Fitzroy. It is a drop in and welfare centre and runs in partnership with Anglicare Victoria. Each day up to 100 people visit the centre. There they receive food parcels, clothing vouchers and assistance with medical expenses. Every day the centre provides lunch for the homeless.
St. Marks Recycled (St Marks Community Centre Op Shop) raises funds for St. Mark's Community Centre. Profits from the shop help fund the important work the community centre performs for the homeless and vulnerable.
The shop is close to public transport and is located in the hive of Smith St.
St. Marks Recycled are recruiting an Op Shop Retail Assistant to work in our Collingwood Op Shop. This is a casual role, 6.5 hours a week, increasing if required.
The role is for a fixed term, starting end of November and finishing the end of February. This may be extended depending on funding.
Reporting to the Op Shop manager, you will play a pivotal role in working with the current team of volunteers while overseeing the operations of the store.
You will be processing donations, serving customers, sorting / pricing donations, sales and restocking the shop floor.
The role requires climbing three flights of stairs, moving boxes and manual sorting.
**Qualifications & experience**
- Experience in a retail store including pricing, preparing goods for sale, and sales
- Excellent customer service skills to build rapport with clients
- Ability to Identify, sort and price designer and vintage wear, homewares, collectibles and antiques.
- At lease 12 - 24 months experience in a similar role in an Opportunity Shop is required
- A current First Aid Certificate is desirable.
- This position requires a current and valid Police Check, Working with Children Check. If you do not have a valid Police Check or working with Children check we will organise one for you.
- Comfortable working in a team environment, working with volunteers and/or working alone.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and challenging work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A 'Can Do' proactive attitude and positive team spirit
- Experience with eBay is desirable but not mandatory.
- Ability to Contribute to building a loyal customer base
**Tasks & responsibilities**
- Receiving donated goods, sorting and pricing donations for sale.
- Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Manage customer enquiries
- Packaging unsuitable goods appropriately in preparation for ethical disposal.
- Showcasing your visual merchandising skills and window display expertise
- Ensuring the store is clean, tidy and not cluttered for the safety of Customers and Volunteers.
- Other related tasks as directed.
