We have an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced and innovative Communications Specialist to join our team until June 2026. Through your work, you’ll have a behind the scenes pass to Newcastle's evolution as you shape our future as a liveable, inclusive city.

As a Communications Specialist you’ll develop and deliver a wide range of internal and external communication strategies for City of Newcastle. Collaborating with teams across the organisation, you'll help keep our community informed about the changes, improvements, challenges, and opportunities shaping our city.

Your excellent interpersonal skills will be key to building and maintaining strong relationships, both within City of Newcastle and with external stakeholders. You’ll provide strategic communication advice and craft engaging, informative content across a range of channels—ensuring the right messages reach the right audiences.

You’ll be working on projects that shape how we live, work, and play in Newcastle, so experience in local government or infrastructure projects, along with knowledge of the IAP2 framework for community participation, will be valuable.

Remuneration: $111,827.80 + 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment + 11.5% Superannuation per annum for a 35-hour week
