The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) is a single institution located across two adjacent river-side buildings in the Cultural Precinct at Brisbane's South Bank. Our vision is to be the leading institution for the contemporary art of Australia, Asia and the Pacific.
QAGOMA holds a Collection of over 17,000 works of historical, modern and contemporary art, and stages a dynamic program of Australian and international exhibitions. We are home to the Children's Art Centre which collaborates on interactive artworks with leading artists from around the world, and the Australian Cinémathèque, the only dedicated cinema facility in an Australian art museum.
As the Registrar, Collection you will:
Plan, coordinate, undertake and manage programming and staff in the specialist areas of Acquisitions and Loans, and Collection Storage. Supervise team members to ensure successful and timely completion of projects in the business areas of:
* New acquisitions
* Government loans
* Collection storage
* Collection exhibitions
Applyknowledge of legislation and regulations governing the physical risk, legal and procedural requirements for the import and export of cultural objects, and/or escalate significant issues or barriers through the Senior Registrar to the Registration Manager. This includes Protection of Movable Cultural Heritage Act (1986) and Regulations (2018/2021); Protection of Cultural Objects on Loan Act (2013) and Regulations (2014); Known Consignor Scheme and other Australian Quarantine and Inspection Services regulations; Australian Biosecurity regulations; CITES permit system; and other relevant national and international obligations.
Implementworkflows and programs to meet acquisitions, collection loans, collection exhibitions, and collection storage needs, assign responsibilities, delegate tasks effectively, and guide and mentor team members to build capacity and ensure ongoing skill development.
Overseefiscal tasks such as budget tracking, vendor creation, account management, and accounts payable using a range of software systems such as Microsoft Excel, eftSure, Converga and Promaster.
Developand maintain collaborative relationships with donors, lenders, insurance brokers, international and national customs agents, couriers and other stakeholders to ensure the safe and efficient transfer of works of art to and from the Gallery.
Supportthe Senior Registrar as required on a range of registration activities and endeavours through supervision, mentoring, guidance, and support to staff undertaking work across multiple and concurrent projects.
Workwith Gallery teams on a range of activities and endeavours requiring collection management involvement, and provide specialised advice and recommendations to the Senior Registrar on issues regarding strategic collection logistics.
Providetechnical input for the development and review of policy, procedure and strategies to manage registration collection logistics.
