Gippsland Southern Health Service (GSHS) is a major provider of healthcare in the South Gippsland Shire. GSHS offers a broad range of services that meet the needs of a diverse and sparsely populated area. With two main acute facilities based at Leongatha and Korumburra, GSHS offers a broad range of specialist, general, acute, subacute, ambulatory, residential aged care and community services.
On 1 January 2026 five health services (Kooweerup Regional Health Service, Peninsula Health, Alfred Health, Bass Coast Health and Gippsland Southern Health Service) will come together to create Bayside Health. A newly merged health service with more than 22,000 employees caring for a community of over 1.2 million Victorians. The new health service will provide people with the best possible care with services that support them throughout their lives. The merger will also strengthen our workforce, providing new training, education and career opportunities. Subject to final approval on 1 January 2026, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.
About the Role
We are looking for a Fellow with rural generalist career ambitions to embed into a new medical workforce model within a strong multidisciplinary culture. The predominant position on the ward (20 beds) with opportunities within our health service for exposure to (or work in) urgent care, anaesthetics, obstetrics, neonatal resuscitation, procedural work, aged care and medical administration.
About You
The successful applicant will possess the following:
* Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
* Experience in the provision of generalist medicine
* Demonstrated interest in and commitment to education and training
* Understand clinical and quality requirements within the Victorian public health system
* Interpersonal skills that promote effective teamwork and patient safety
* Current and satisfactory National Police Records Check
* Current and satisfactory Working with Children Check
