About the role
We are looking for a motivated and technically capable Technical Officer – Street Lighting who is keen to make a visible difference across the City. In this role, you will help shape how essential lighting and electrical assets are managed - supporting safer streets, more sustainable infrastructure and smarter long‑term planning.
You will work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, electricity suppliers and TasNetworks to ensure the City's street lighting, solar panels and associated electrical assets are accurately recorded, well maintained and performing at their best. Beyond day‑to‑day operations, you will also play an important role in strengthening asset management practices across Council, providing practical support to the Program Leader Asset Planning in the development of strategic asset management plans and the ongoing improvement of data within the City's Asset Management Information System.

About you
You bring a strong understanding of street‑lighting infrastructure - its components, maintenance needs, and the standards that keep everything running safely and efficiently. You are confident in fast‑paced admin environments, keeping everything accurate and organised. You build great relationships, deliver responsive customer service, and keep asset data sharp and up to date - ensuring smooth day‑to‑day street‑lighting operations.
What sets the ideal candidate apart:
1. A Certificate III or IV Electrotechnology Electrician – Systems Electrician with extensive experience with management of electrical systems, as well as contract administration or asset management.
2. Alternatively, a diploma in Civil Engineering or Asset Management with extensive experience relevant to this role.
3. Current Driver Licence.
4. Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) - Employment.
5. Demonstrated experience in managing contracts and agreements, including monitoring compliance and performance.

1. High level of competency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
7. Ability to use Financial Management Systems, Electronic Document Management Systems, Asset Management Systems and Databases.
