About The Role
Townsville City Council is committed to providing safe, reliable and cost-effective water services. We understand how important water is and strive to preserve this precious resource while allowing residents to use water when they need it. As a Plumber within our water team you will coordinate major maintenance, breakdowns and planned works on our water infrastructure. You will coordinate site access, permits, safety and statutory permissions to perform maintenance activities and provide on-site supervision of staff and contractors to ensure works are carried out in accordance with specifications.

About You
There are certain qualifications that are required and others that can be obtained upon commencement. These include:
Mandatory
* Trade qualification in Plumbing with experience in water reticulation.
* Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD).
* Current "C" class driver's licence with the ability to obtain an "MR" class driver's licence.
Desirable
* Traffic Management Implementation course accredited.
* Competent person with experience in Confined Space Entry.
* Successfully completed training to supervise asbestos removal and experience in removal of asbestos piping.
* Ability to work as part of a team to ensure interruptions to water supply are averted or rectified quickly and efficiently.
* Well-developed supervisory and leadership skills.
* Strong community and customer relations skills.
* Strong understanding of WHS, environmental protection, equal employment opportunity, anti-discrimination and privacy obligations, and the QLD Local Government Act.
* Significant knowledge and experience in maintenance planning, scheduling and execution.
