Substation Operations Officer – 6‐8 Months Maximum Term Contract
Role Overview
Our Substation Operations Officer will coordinate and allocate resources for the delivery of transmission switching services for customers both within and external to Western Power. The role is based at our brand‐new state‐of‐the‐art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway.
Responsibilities
* Allocate on‐call substation first response employees to maintain network integrity.
* Coordinate timely submissions of outage requests.
* Allocate resources for transmission switching services to enable effective construction, maintenance and commissioning of the transmission infrastructure.
* Provide technical advice on limits of isolation and switching operations.
* Communicate and prioritise feedback to stakeholders and customers on project progress.
Qualifications
* Cert III (ESI Distribution / Transmission Overhead / Power Systems Distribution Cable Jointing) and/or Electrical Trade Certificate, and/or current WA Electrical Workers License endorsed for Electrical Fitting.
* Alternatively a Diploma in Project Management with solid understanding of the network.
* Western Power Switching levels, eNar/Transmission and/or Distribution – desirable.
* Technical knowledge and/or operational experience in the Networks business.
* Solid knowledge of scheduling and project management tools and processes.
* Previous experience in effective and efficient allocation of resources.
* Technical knowledge of transmission switching & outage techniques and practices.
* Sound knowledge of safety policies and procedures, particularly operating field practices and procedures for the power system.
