Job Title: Veterinary Technician – Clinical Studies Centre

Salary: $77,545.51 – $82,218.84 (base) + 17% super (HEW Level 4)
Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated, energetic and well‐organised Veterinary Technician to join the UQ VETS Clinical Studies Centre at Gatton. The role reports to the Clinical Studies Centre Manager and operates in a collaborative, inquisitive and purpose‐driven clinical and teaching environment, supporting veterinary staff, students and continuing education programs.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinating the Teaching Laboratory within the Clinical Studies Centre, including bookings, inventory management, stock rotation, ordering and daily maintenance.
* Providing professional veterinary nursing and technical support, including anaesthesia monitoring, post‐operative care, diagnostic procedures and radiography assistance.
* Supporting undergraduate practical teaching, practical surgery classes, and continuing education workshops and seminars.
* Delivering high‐quality customer service and administrative support to veterinary staff, students, clients and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualifications and training equivalent to a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Technologist qualification, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training, including a current open driver's licence.
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in low‐stress husbandry, handling, restraint and care of animals, particularly dogs, cats, birds, chickens, pigs and sheep.
* Experience working with animals in a laboratory or technical teaching environment.
* Sound knowledge and practical experience in medical and surgical nursing, including anaesthesia and analgesia monitoring.
* Ability to competently perform diagnostic clinical pathology techniques and prepare animal specimens for teaching.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records and use practice management and standard office software.
* Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with veterinary specialists, academic staff, students and external clients.
