UGL Industrials have an opportunity for a qualified and suitably experienced
Project Accountant
for our Workshop located at Bennetts Green. This is a permanent full-time role on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave. This position is Monday-Friday 38hours per week.
This position is a residential role with no living away from home provisions or facility for non-local employees. Local applicants from the Newcastle region are strongly encouraged to apply.

About The Role
The
Project Accountant
is responsible for establishing and controlling the Contract finances, deep diving into data and generating financial reports, providing insight, and leading process improvement in the tracking and management of financial and cost data.
* Assist the Operations Managers and Contract/Project Managers to analyse financial and project information, identifying strengths/weaknesses and recommending improvements.
* Cost management of projects and contracts
* Generation of project purchase orders and processing of vendor invoices
* Analyse costs, pricing, variable contributions, margin results and the Contract/Project actual performance compared to the budget/forecast plans controlling income, cash flow and expenditure
* Plan, establish and direct the Contract/Project financial administrative activities and operational procedures to ensure profits are protected
* Prepare and execute claims and invoicing. Manage day-to-day the debtors and creditors aging and maintain forecasted working capital
* Assist with the preparation of the management reports including budget and forecasts utilisation reporting, cash flow forecast and any other ad-hoc analysis as requested
* Maintain customer/client relationships and provide support and guidance to the contracts support team and contract/project managers
* Run the month end process in an efficient and timely manner, complying with time schedules as per set deadlines
* Collate, prepare, reporting and presentation of the financial outcome, and projections with insightful commentaries for all contracts/projects under remit.
* Conduct financial evaluations on existing projects, carrying out business modelling and risk assessments.
* Monitoring and analysing performance against KPI's
* Provide interpretation and assumptions on labour rates returns to Finance Lead for improvements to "New Business" modelling
* Maintain systems on project / contract commercial and contractual compliance.
* General ad hoc duties as requested
* Ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
* Promote and work with the divisional finance function to ensure uniform quality standards in all areas of the business
Required Qualifications And Education Requirements
* Degree in commerce or accounting
* Experience working with Projects & Operations & Maintenance contracts – contract margin improvements, labour rates, capital expenditure, cost control, project controls, risk management
* Experience with general business management and understanding of business drivers
* Experience in business partnering with Senior Management
* Strong systems skills – SAP, Excel and Power BI
* Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
* Demonstrated capacity and initiative to solve problems with energy and a positive attitude.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
* Previous experience with SAP Project Modules within relevant industry
* Strong attention to detail
* A solid commercial understanding
