Are you a strategic leader ready to define the future of two critical commercial insurance lines? A leading national insurer is seeking an accomplished National Portfolio Manager to take the helm of our Business Package and Farm product portfolios. This high‑impact, hybrid‑working role on a 24‑month fixed‑term contract offers a chance to directly influence profitable and sustainable underwriting outcomes across Australia.
You will provide strategic oversight and technical authority necessary to achieve superior results. What You Will Do:
* Lead the Strategy: Set the vision, underwriting appetite, and accumulation management strategy for the national Business Package and Farm portfolios.
* Drive Profitability: Lead book price management, budgeting, reinsurance strategy, and performance monitoring to ensure sustainable growth.
* Inspire a Team: Manage and develop a team of specialist Portfolio Analysts, fostering technical excellence and cross‑functional knowledge sharing.
* Influence Decisions: Utilize deep market mapping and performance analytics to inform strategic planning, pricing, and new growth opportunities across market cycles.
What You Will Bring:
* Essential Experience: Direct, demonstrated experience in general insurance underwriting and portfolio management, with significant exposure to commercial business lines, ideally including Business Package and/or Farm products.
* Strategic Acumen: Advanced knowledge of portfolio dynamics, technical product principles, and insurance pricing.
* Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships, negotiate effectively, and influence strategic outcomes at a senior level.
