We are seeking a skilled and experienced chef to join our kitchen team as an Indian Curry Chef. This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires a high level of skill, attention to detail, and passion for delivering exceptional food.
Job Description
* Plan and organize the preparation of menu items on a daily basis, ensuring that dishes are prepared to a high standard and presented in a visually appealing way.
* Set up workstations with all necessary ingredients and equipment, maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times.
* Prioritize tasks and manage multiple cooking stations effectively, ensuring that orders are fulfilled promptly and efficiently.
* Prepare and use specialized kitchen equipment, such as tandoor ovens and curries pots, to create authentic Indian cuisine.
* Prepare ingredients for cooking, chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc., maintaining a high level of presentation and quality.
* Organize supplies, including groceries, dairy, and vegetables, to ensure that the kitchen is well-stocked and ready for service.
* Maintain a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
* Ensure that all food and other items are stored properly, minimizing waste and reducing costs.
* Preparation and cooking of all curry, tandoori, and today's specials menu items as per proper recipes, meeting the required standards of taste, texture, and presentation.
* Prepare and cook tailor-made menus for special orders, such as birthday, engagement, and other parties, working closely with customers to understand their needs and preferences.
* Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness throughout the kitchen area, adhering to all regulations and guidelines.
* Work cooperatively with other members of the kitchen team, providing support and assistance as needed to ensure smooth service delivery.
* Manage stock rotation, food safety, and minimize waste, contributing to the overall efficiency and profitability of the kitchen.
Requirements
* Cert IV in Cookery or above, with a proven track record of success in a similar role.
* Good knowledge of Indian curry and tandoori cuisine and spices, with a deep understanding of flavor profiles and cooking techniques.
* Availability to work weekends and split shifts, with flexibility to meet changing demands and requirements.
* Passion for food and enjoyment of working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences.
* At least two years of work experience as a chef, with a strong understanding of kitchen operations, management, and leadership principles.
* Ability to work in a team, with excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and attention to detail.
* Must have Australian work rights, with a valid visa or citizenship status.
