De Salis Wines

Offer description

About De Salis
De Salis is a family-run, premium winery perched in the snowline at 1050 metres up on the northern slopes of Mount Canobolas in Orange, NSW. Head winemaker Mitch Svenson tends the Lofty and Forest Edge Vineyards, which are celebrated for their dry-grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The winery follows a minimalist philosophy: fruit is hand-picked, fermented with wild yeasts, allowed to complete malolactic conversion, and bottled with only a trace of sulphur, ensuring the wines capture the purity of the site and the rhythms of nature. Visitors are invited to share in this passion through behind-the-scenes tasting experiences that reveal the craftsmanship behind every bottle. De Salis has been recognised in The Real Review's Top 100 Australian Wineries and has received accolades such as Best Large Cellar Door and Best Tasting Experience from Gourmet Traveller Wine.
About the job
We are looking for an energetic sales associate to join our small team, someone focused, keen to learn about wine and wine production, and ready to roll up their sleeves. A can-do attitude is essential. The role is full-time, Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm.
As the team is small, this is a rare chance to dive into the wine industry and learn all facets of a boutique producer, from growing fruit to crafting the finished product and selling directly to customers.
Responsibilities
Customer experience & cellar door hospitality
Host and guide tastings, set up tasting spaces, and help guests explore the wines
Provide friendly, engaging service in the tasting room, answer questions, and deliver a customer experience like no other
Support sales by processing orders, packaging wine, and fulfilling home delivery orders; effect sales at the cellar door and encourage wine club sign-ups
Ensure the cellar door is well presented, fully stocked, and ready for visitors, and assist with Winemaker dinners, VIP events, and tastings
Vineyard & winery support
Assist vineyard staff with pruning, canopy management, mowing and harvest
Work alongside the winemaker and vineyard manager during vintage for fruit processing, pressing, general cellar duties, and cleaning
Assist with packaging orders and general cellar maintenance
Administration & logistics
Act as the first point of contact for phone and email enquiries, direct queries, and follow up actions
Perform data entry, maintain confidential records, and help create printed collateral
Support weekly ordering of supplies and maintain inventory for hospitality, sales, and administration
Maintain booking platforms and CRM, update wine club membership records, and assist with packing club shipments
Help with stocktakes and ensure accurate records across cellar door and warehouse
Marketing & events support
Assist with tourism bookings and experiences, ensuring smooth preparation for visitors
Help update marketing materials (tasting collateral, event menus)
Support winery-based events and initiatives and help run functions
Skills & attributes
A genuine interest in wine and an ability to communicate knowledge to guests
Customer focused, outgoing, and confident in engaging with guests
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong organisation and attention to detail
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods, lift cases, and perform vineyard work
Self-motivated, able to work unsupervised, and comfortable working in a small team
Comfortable working weekends or public holidays as part of the hospitality roster
Driver's licence and own transport are highly desirable
Culture
At De Salis, everyone pitches in. We're a close-knit team that values hard work, curiosity, and respect for both the craft and the land. The pace can be busy, but the learning opportunities are rich.
Qualifications & expectations
Eligible applicants will demonstrate a genuine interest in wine, customer service experience, and the ability to work in a small team. The role requires weekend availability and physical tasks associated with cellar and tasting room operations.
