As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in the rehabilitation process of our patients. The Occupational Therapy department at Mater Health provides public and private health services across a range of clinical specialties.
1. You will manage a caseload of delegated patients and provide a defined range of clinical screening assessments and treatments as prescribed and delegated by an allied health practitioner
2. You will document in patient records and provide feedback to delegating allied health practitioners on session outcomes and changes to patient status
3. Your patient care responsibilities may also include:
* Facilitating patient programs and group treatment sessions
* Patient education on defined topics
* Ordering and providing equipment for patients
* Assisting clinicians with clinical documentation
* Assisting patients with applications to access government and community support
* Assisting with personal care (e.g. showering and toileting)
* Manual handling and transport of patients
About the Role:
* This is a weekend shift position where you will work closely with our multidisciplinary team in our 48 bed rehabilitation unit.
* You will be responsible for setting up and maintaining therapy rooms, equipment, resources and assistive devices, ensuring they are safe and available for individual and group programs
* You will support patients and allied health practitioners with telehealth set up and troubleshooting
* You will develop and maintain clinical resources and patient education materials
* You will recognize when input is required from the delegating allied health practitioner and act to obtain their involvement
