Our QLD Government client is currently seeking a Data Engineer to work within their Data Platform project team, to build a data warehouse and data analytics assets on an Azure Databricks platform.
In this role you will provide expert guidance and mentorship in the research, analysis, evaluation, and the implementation of data and analytics solutions to achieve the strategic objectives of the organisation.
As the Data Engineer, you will:
* Be responsible for providing customer focused service delivery and high-level expertise in relation to the development, maintenance, optimisation, and continuous improvement of data assets and architecture to facilitate deeper analysis and reporting for customers.
* Provide expert problem solving and analytics thinking in the development of data set processes for data modelling, mining, and production, that enable consistent and equitable collection, access, use, analysis and reporting of data.
* Analyse and solve complex problems to provide innovative solutions and architecture to meet business data needs.
* Provide strategic and expert advice in the design, construction and deployment of data structure/models which align to business requirements.
* Provide expert guidance and review of data products to ensure quality and compliance with architectural and governance requirements.
* Provide expert technical leadership, guidance and coaching on ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality.
* Initiate, influence and maintain relationships with team members, other project teams, stakeholders and client groups to develop and maintain effective working relationships and integrity of the overall service.
What you'll bring to the role:
* Strong Databricks, dbt and SQL experience, Python (or similar products)
* A background in end-to-end Business Intelligence development
* Experience with clinical health data, including Patient Administration data
* Strong understanding in large scale database infrastructure and platforms
* A degree or post graduate qualification in information technology or other data focussed discipline
* Git/Azure DevOps
* Proven ability to analyse business and system problems and develop innovative solutions with strong focus on delivering high quality client services and outcomes
* Proven high level of written and verbal communication skills including the ability to negotiate, advise, influence others and work collaboratively with people to make decisions.

Casual Loading
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
