About the Role
We are seeking a proactive Category Specialist to join our client\'s team, delivering high-value and complex category management initiatives. The successful candidate will have proven experience managing high-profile tenders within the South Australian Government, strong stakeholder engagement skills, a collaborative working style, and a solid understanding of government policies, insurance requirements, approval processes, and project delivery considerations.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
- Complete tasks to a high standard with minimal direction, contributing to team goals and providing support and knowledge sharing.
- Lead category management for high-value or complex sub-categories, including developing plans, analysing spend, consulting stakeholders, and benchmarking.
- Identify and manage risks, drive improvement and innovation, and deliver agreed category strategies and perks.
- Manage supplier performance and relationships, ensuring successful commercial outcomes and compliance with procurement policies, government regulations, and approval processes.
- Lead sourcing, contract negotiations, and approvals, ensuring alignment with project delivery requirements.
- Provide expert advice on procurement, supply chain, and contract management, influencing stakeholders and maintaining strong relationships.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Law, Commercial, or relevant field (MCIPS or equivalent experience highly regarded).
- Proven procurement and contracting experience, including high-profile government tenders, with strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with a collaborative approach.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of government policies, insurance requirements, approval processes, and project delivery considerations.
- Experience in defence or utilities sectors, particularly large-scale projects, is desirable.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to team objectives.
