The ACT Greens MLAs are seeking a highly capable Office Manager and/or Executive Officer to support their dynamic team in the Legislative Assembly. This is a flexible opportunity depending on applicant experience, preferences and availability.
These roles suit someone who is organised and adaptable, with excellent communication skills and a commitment to Greens values. Flexible and part time arrangements are available, and applicants may apply for one role or both.
Duties for Office Manager
* Provide high level administrative support to the MLAs and office staff.
* Provide first point of contact for offices, including for telephone enquiries and greeting visitors.
* Collaborate across the Assembly in managing and responding to enquiries, emails and correspondence as required.
* Manage, co-ordinate and negotiate the MLAs’ diary scheduling.
* Liaise with constituents, MLAs, Ministers, and their offices, and other stakeholders
* Support the MLAs to fulfil electorate responsibilities.
* Coordinate the MLAs’ event and travel arrangements and coordinate travel arrangements for other staff as required.

* Other duties as directed.
Duties for Executive Officer
This role will assist MLAs and the ACT Greens Chief of Staff to coordinate and manage strategic, human resourcing, administrative, and parliamentary duties across the MLA offices. This is not a full-time position and can be combined with other positions.
* In collaboration with the HR Working Group, updating HR policies, managing organisational capability, including identifying and implementing better ways of working.
* Identifying organisational development opportunities, including a forward program of learning and development.
* Assisting with recruitment processes and onboarding of new staff.
* Providing high level administrative support to ACT Greens MLAs Party Room.
* Coordinating and managing a range of parliamentary and office processes with limited supervision.
* Secretariat support for ACT Greens MLAs leadership meetings, and other meetings as required.
* Assisting the ACT Greens Chief of Staff to review and clear briefs, policy, and other materials.
* Assisting the Office Managers in cross-office coordination and the running of the ACT Greens MLA offices.
* Apply a demonstrated commitment, or willingness, to implement ACT Greens principles and policies around ecological sustainability, social justice, peace and non-violence and grassroots participatory democracy.
* Commitment to working in, and contributing to, a positive team culture.
* Other duties as directed.
Selection criteria for both roles
* Strong office administration skills.
* Excellent written, oral and interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to draft and manage correspondence.
* Demonstrated ability to work within a small team in a dynamic work environment and work independently as required.
* Experience or understanding of the ACT Government, parliamentary systems and/or the ACT political system would be an advantage.
Further selection criteria if also applying for Executive Officer role
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to manage up and across an organisation and demonstrated consultation and negotiation skills.
* Strong organisational and time management skills, including flexibility and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
The roles will be for the term of the 11th Assembly and are set at Adviser Level 1 or 2 ($82,377 - $130,693) depending on experience, plus 7% Legislative Assembly Members’ Staff allowance, plus 12.5% superannuation (or 13.5% if the employee contributes at least 3% themselves).
The successful candidate will be engaged under a Legislative Assembly Members’ Staff contract, and other terms and conditions of employment are governed by the ACT Legislative Assembly Members’ Staff Enterprise Agreement. It is not an ACT Public Service position.
