Role overview This is a key leadership opportunity to shape and elevate the technical positioning of a growing retirement solutions business. The Head of Technical Services will lead the delivery of high-quality technical expertise to financial advisers and internal teams, with a focus on complex client needs, strategic product support, and thought leadership across retirement income, insurance, and superannuation. Key Responsibilities Act as the primary escalation point for complex technical queries from advisers and internal stakeholders (e.g. distribution, product, compliance). Deliver accurate, timely, and pragmatic guidance on matters involving retirement income, insurance, annuities, tax, and regulatory frameworks. Create and present engaging webinars, CPD-accredited training, and strategic insights to advisers, licensees, and partners. Develop tools, calculators, and technical content to support advice conversations and product comparisons. Produce whitepapers, technical articles, and commentary on key industry issues. Represent the business in industry forums, media publications, and adviser communications as a subject matter expert. Collaborate with strategic partners and licensees to strengthen engagement and build technical credibility. Provide input to proposition development by sharing market insights and adviser feedback. Ensure consistent, accurate, and compliant technical messaging across marketing, product, and distribution channels. Build capability across internal teams through training and knowledge sharing. Skills & Experience You are a seasoned technical leader with a strong understanding of Australia’s retirement income system and the ability to translate complexity into clarity. You bring credibility with advisers, energy to educate, and a collaborative mindset. Deep technical knowledge of annuities, superannuation, and retirement income strategies. 8–10 years in a senior technical, product, strategy, or advice role within financial services. Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with experience delivering content to adviser audiences. Excellent written communication, with a knack for making complex information accessible. Proven ability to collaborate across functional teams and influence outcomes. Relevant qualifications (e.g. CFP, FChFP, SSA, RG146-compliant). Legal, actuarial or tax qualifications are advantageous but not essential.
