Join Allens as an Associate / Senior Associate, Intellectual Property based in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
Your role
At Allens, we combine the market-leading litigation and commercial skills of our intellectual property lawyers with those of our patent and trade mark attorneys to offer clients a comprehensive and seamless IP service. You will be part of our Band 1 ranked Intellectual Property and Patent and Trade Mark Attorney team, working closely with Partners and the wider team across offices to gain exposure to complex contentious, regulatory and commercial transactions in the Australian market. Allens supports lawyers to develop a niche while maintaining a strong foundation across all areas of IP law.
You will be involved in the following activities:
Contentious and non-contentious matters, including patents, trade marks, copyright, designs, Australian Consumer Law, brand protection, anti-counterfeiting, confidential information and trade secrets enforcement, litigation, regulatory, IP licensing and transactional matters.
Work across teams to support clients acquiring, managing, protecting, commercialising, enforcing and defending their IP rights.
Collaborate with the integrated Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys team to advise on the entire life cycle of IP assets, including registration, opposition, portfolio management, acquisitions, litigation, and enforcement.
We have permanent, full-time opportunities available based in our Sydney or Melbourne offices. Hybrid working (60% in the office) is how we work; however, we are open to discussing flexible arrangements to suit you.
About You
You will have:
Experience working in private practice in an intellectual property team in Australia. In-house and overseas experience are valued as well.
Exposure to a range of IP work such as contentious patents, trade marks, copyright, confidential information, designs, IP licensing and M&A transactions.
Experience delegating work and supervising junior lawyers.
Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong drafting skills.
A desire to learn, grow, network and mentor others.
