About the Role

Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist – Hand Therapy to join our dynamic, expanding and supportive team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering high‐quality, specialist hand therapy services that make a meaningful difference to patients.

This senior clinical role is responsible for the development, coordination, delivery and evaluation of high‐quality occupational therapy services, with a specialised focus on hand therapy. You will provide expert clinical care to patients with a wide range of hand, wrist and upper limb conditions, supporting recovery, functional independence and return to meaningful daily activities.

In this role, you will deliver comprehensive hand therapy services including advanced assessment, treatment planning, rehabilitation and splint fabrication. Working closely with occupational therapy colleagues and a broad multidisciplinary team, you will optimise patient outcomes across acute and inpatient settings, while also providing specialist support to other clinical services as required.

As a highly skilled clinician, you will also provide clinical leadership within acute hospital services. You will support service development, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and provide supervision and mentorship to less experienced staff, fostering clinical excellence and professional growth within the team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring advanced clinical expertise and a strong commitment to delivering best‐practice care. You will possess extensive experience managing a broad range of hand therapy presentations, including post‐surgical conditions requiring complex assessment, rehabilitation and splint fabrication, supported by comprehensive knowledge of orthopaedic and surgical hand conditions and recovery pathways.

Your success in this role will be underpinned by strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, enabling effective consultation, negotiation, conflict resolution and the preparation of clear, accurate and timely clinical documentation. You are skilled in building and maintaining collaborative partnerships with patients, families, community services and healthcare providers within culturally diverse and multidisciplinary environments.

You also demonstrate strong leadership capability, including supervising and supporting staff, working autonomously and within interdisciplinary teams, managing competing priorities, adapting to changing service demands and contributing to program evaluation, service development and continuous quality improvement. A commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice aligns naturally with your approach to care.
