The Department of Health are seeking a motivated and suitably experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant to join their Safety, Security and Quality Unit.

As part of the newly created Safety, Security and Quality Unit, you will join a forward-thinking team leading a major reform program. This is a senior nursing leadership role that bridges clinical care with safety and security, ensuring patient safety and clinical risk management are embedded as core business across the Tasmanian Health Service.

The Role
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) - Safety, Security and Quality Unit (SSQU) is the clinical link between patient care and safety and security. This position is responsible for:
- Provide leadership and expertise in the development, implementation and evaluation of patient safety and security initiatives, whilst fostering a culture of safety and learning for improvement.
- Apply the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards to ensure the provision of high quality, accountable, and measurable healthcare by advising the SSQU to meet patient clinical safety and hospital accreditation processes.
- Foster a culture that strives for excellence in patient safety through collaboration, support, education, learning, research, and workforce development.
You will need
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and expertise in evidence-based nursing practice, including the development of policies, protocols and procedures in consultation with key stakeholders in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Demonstrated flexibility, creativity and innovation, based on highly developed conceptual and reasoning skills, to support the implementation of operational strategy and nursing policies to integrate the practices of diverse health care disciplines and fields of nursing.
- Demonstrated highly developed leadership skills with the proven ability to influence, educate and direct the activities of others and implement change within the context of a multidisciplinary setting.

Details of appointment
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
