Lead Strategic Communications and Engagement
The Executive Director, Communications and Engagement will oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategic communication function for the department. This position will lead the following key work streams, including providing the central point for strategic decision-making across the department:
* The independent racing review
* Development of the new sport strategy
* Whole-of-Games coordination and engagement in the lead up to Brisbane 2032
This role requires an ability to provide high-level leadership, particularly by working collaboratively with senior executives, government agencies, and stakeholders.
The Executive Director, Communications and Engagement must be able to lead, manage, and monitor media and strategic communication to deliver government priorities and excellence in customer-based service delivery.
This position directly influences the delivery of government programs through identifying and developing effective methods of communicating and engaging with internal and external target audiences, aligned with whole-of-government and departmental strategic directions.
Main Responsibilities
This role includes leading the Communications and Engagement branch by providing strong and effective leadership, ensuring teams adopt a high-performing culture attitude. The successful candidate will also:
* Demonstrate strong business acumen and project management skills, directing multiple complex communications and engagement projects using innovative work practices
* Actively adopt a digital-first approach to all projects and introduce innovative work practices across the branch, where suitable
* Lead the development, implementation, and integrity of the department's narrative, reputation, and brand to ensure activities align with the department's strategic objectives
* Provide high-level advice to the Minister's Office, senior executives, and other departmental staff on strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and media/issues management matters
