Overview
Social Worker - Proserpine State High School & Cannonvale State School. We are seeking a dedicated compassionate Social Worker to provide support and assistance to students and families facing various challenges at Proserpine State High School and Cannonvale State School. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact across two vibrant school communities.
This is a progressive position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. The salary rate shown reflects both classification ranges.
Focus of the Role
The focus of the role is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. Wellbeing professionals employed through the Student Wellbeing Workforce work as part of schools' established student support teams to enhance wellbeing and mental health support available to students.
Responsibilities Include
Provide skilled support and information for students, parents, carers and school communities that facilitate partnerships in decision making for enhancement of all students' learning.
Use evidence-based intervention strategies to support young people experiencing challenges with mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing.
Provide therapeutic counselling and support through individual or group sessions to address mild to moderate mental health concerns.
Facilitate referrals to other allied health professionals and services and assist students and families to access this support.
Support school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as a part of the school response team.
Develop and/or maintain appropriate data collection and confidential records keeping and reporting systems for individual students referred for social work services in line with department procedures and policies.
Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within an educational setting, providing support to school, community and interagency networks relevant to the position.
