JOB PURPOSE
Simoco is a multi-layered technology provider of communications within the public safety, utility, transport & mining sectors. Delivery of this role requires the enforcement of Policies, Processes and Procedures ensuring that departments adhere to the rules and regulations that the company upholds. Reporting to the Group Commercial Director the SHEQ Managers role is to ensure Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards are upheld to required standards. Delivering a pivotal SHEQ role to the delivery of all business areas.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop, maintain, and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across SHEQ activities, ensuring actionable insights for leadership.
* Expand, update, and maintain all internal SHEQ documentation, including manuals, plans, policies and procedures, ensuring they remain accurate, compliant, and aligned with operational needs.
* Build and implement a structured document control system to support audit readiness and operational efficiency.
* Lead initiatives to prepare the business for Environmental (ISO and Occupational Safety & Health (ISO certification, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and standard requirements.
* Support the maintenance and management of the existing ISO 9001 Quality Program
* Support cyber security certification efforts, liaising with IT and relevant stakeholders to align processes and compliance with required standards.
* To promote and support the positive shaping and maintaining of Simoco's safety culture.
* To ensure that company operations adhere to a set of industry-compliant safety standards, that reduces accidents and resource wastage and improves efficiency and customer satisfaction.
* Carrying out JSA (Job Safety Analysis) and SWMS (Safe Work Method Statement) across operational tasks and functional areas ensuring risks are mitigated.
* Conduct Safety Committee Meetings.
* To be a nominated Fire Warden for the Scoresby site.
* To support site maintenance and ensure the operational premises in Scoresby and other operating states are maintained to a suitable standard for occupancy and work surroundings for staff.
* Examining and improving auditing processes to resolve compliance issues fast or prevent them entirely.
* Promote & lead the net zero campaign. Be an advocate of Carbon Reduction initiatives.
* Motivating employees to not only strive to meet compliance standards, but also to exceed them for operating efficiency.
* Excellent analytical skills and the ability to analyse and interpret information quickly.
* Excellent understanding of reporting procedures and record-keeping.
* Training cross functional teams on compliance requirements.
* Preparing and filing reports for accidents and other safety breaches.
* Staying up-to-date with health, safety and environment regulations.
* Lead and coordinate the business through certification to ISO Environmental Management) and ISO Occupational Health & Safety), building on the organisation's existing ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System.
* Leverage the organisation's established and mature QMS framework, governance structures and completed gap analysis to drive certification readiness and close identified compliance gaps.
* Strengthen and embed Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety systems, controls and reporting mechanisms to ensure alignment with international standards and regulatory requirements.
* Coordinate internal stakeholders and external certification bodies to ensure a structured, efficient and successful certification process.
* Drive ongoing audit readiness, governance maturity, compliance assurance and continuous improvement initiatives across all business units.
* Champion operational excellence by embedding best-practice SHEQ systems and fostering a culture of accountability and proactive risk management.
* To conduct in-house training sessions on health, safety and environmental awareness.
* Conducting investigations to discover the root cause of compliance problems when they arise
* Remote site visits attending meetings with stakeholders. Discuss actions with stakeholders and ensure documentation is completed in a timely manner.
* Liaising with enforcement bodies if required.
* Maintaining documentation integrity for all business systems.
* Raise Non-Conformance, Recommendations for Improvement and Observations to the relevant manager and resolve in a timely manner.
* Performing Sentinel Co-ordinator tasks.
* Nominated person for Business Continuity, recovery and communications committee
* Nominated person responsible for reporting the required incidents, accidents and close calls to the relevant authorities for Head Office and sites.
KEY RESULTS
* Timely and accurate KPI reports delivered to senior management, highlighting trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
* Completion of current document mapping and implementation of a new structured documentation system within agreed timelines.
* Demonstrable progress toward Environmental and OSH certification readiness, with compliance gaps identified and mitigated.
* Support provided to achieve cyber security accreditation milestones as required.
* All internal and external audit processes are passed successfully
* Zero major non-conformance failures during and of the audit processes
* All H&S notice boards are maintained with the latest up to date information including fire warden and first aid
* Incident management and corrective action reports to be produced within two-five working days of any on-site issue
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
* • In-depth understanding of the ISO 45001 and 14001 standard (Internal Auditor) or a health & safety qualification
* • Excellent knowledge (IOSH qualification) regarding Risk Assessments & Method Statements
* • Exposure and understanding of the ISO 9001 standard
* • Ability to work under pressure and remain focussed throughout periods of change
* • Must be able to work cross functionally when managing change and/ or resolving issues
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Able to follow standards and comply with procedures, rules and regulations
* Adopts a pro-active approach to resolving problems
* Min 2 years' experience in a compliance-based role
* Excellent command of the English language (written & Verbal)
* Proficient in the use Excel, Word & Microsoft power point
* Relevant regulatory experience (e.g. Health & Safety, Environmental standards.)
* Demonstrated stakeholder engagement experience
* Solid understanding of risk and compliance principles and frameworks.
* Patience and the ability to work in high-pressure environments
