Job Summary:
In this role, you will plan, develop, coordinate and review plant design and piping work on large projects having specialized requirements. You will optimize facility layout based on diagrams, client needs, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements. Your technical input will ensure configuration compliance, procurement requirements are met, and complex issues are resolved.
You will be responsible for coordination of the production of technical drawings, calculations, specifications and material take-offs for a project's design, procurement, and constructability aspects. You will additionally be responsible for supporting and reviewing engineering developed by third party engineering service providers in contribution to the overall project scope.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
* Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews plant design and piping engineering work on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit.
* Develops conceptual designs for plant design and piping projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
* Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance. Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performance data.
* Optimizes facility layout based on piping and instrument diagrams, client requirements, current technology, and operational and maintenance requirements.
* Provides the technical input to meet procurement requirements including MR and SR preparation, vendor query support, and technical bid evaluation completion.
* Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
* Reviews and approves key design documents, supplier drawings and data, materials specifications, drawings, and change orders, for the project to which assigned.
* Mentors plant design and piping personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development. Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and training programs as directed.

Education and Experience Requirements:
* Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Experience with piping stress analysis using CAESAR II and pipe support selection is preferred.
* Strong technical knowledge of piping installation, hydrotesting, and pneumatic testing is preferred.
* Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs), including TeamWorks, Aconex, Unifier, Agile, Navisworks, and other automation tools used on Bechtel projects is preferred.
* Experience with minerals handling process plant design, specifically slurry pumping and handling, water and air network analysis, tank sizing, and selection calculations, preferably within gold or copper minerals processing facilities.
* Experience with Bid Evaluate Award processes, specifically preparation of equipment datasheets, material take-offs, specifications, material requisition and technical bid evaluation of piping, valves, and special piping equipment.
* Sound knowledge of design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, graphic arts, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
* Experience with multi discipline interface management and global 3D model oversight.
* Expertise in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.
* Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design responsibilities.
* Experience in design and drafting, including demonstrated expertise in a lead role or recognized courses in the directing of personnel.
* RPEQ and CPEng certification are required.
