Senior Health Surveillance Expert

The Assistant Director Health Surveillance will play a critical role in overseeing the Health Surveillance cell, providing guidance on the development and implementation of the Health Surveillance system. This includes collecting and analysing data to identify potential health risks that could compromise the health and safety of Defence personnel.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in health surveillance systems and be able to apply this knowledge in the context of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). They will also have extensive experience in analysing and reporting against required outputs, as well as a sound understanding of health in the military context.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who can work effectively alone and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be able to liaise with various stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, planners, and policy makers within the ADF and public sector.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the Health Surveillance cell and provide guidance on the development and implementation of the Health Surveillance system
• Collect and analyse data to identify potential health risks that could compromise the health and safety of Defence personnel
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate these risks
• Collaborate with other teams to leverage existing data collection, extraction, and analysis capability
• Ensure timely reporting to key stakeholders within the ADF and relevant external public health authorities

Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Strong background in health surveillance systems
• Extensive experience in analysing and reporting against required outputs
• Sound understanding of health in the military context
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively alone and as part of a team
