NSW Health Pathology are currently seeking a Pathology Collector to join our team on a permanent part time basis. The ideal candidate will be available to work 25 hours per week (5hr per day) on a rotating roster. Shifts will predominantly be rostered Monday-Friday however some weekend work may be required.
Our core service is based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital with our secondary service based out of Balmain District Hospital. These sites work within and across the Sydney Local Health District. With collection sites spanning multiple locations, you'll have the opportunity to work at a variety of clinics and hospital settings as needed.

What You'll Be Doing
Contribute to a high-quality pathology service by performing a wide range of pre-analytical and collection duties. This includes delivering safe, accurate venepuncture and capillary sampling, receiving and triaging specimens, completing patient registration and request entry, and ensuring specimens are correctly processed, packaged, and transported for timely diagnostic testing. You will play a key frontline role in patient care, supporting clinicians and laboratories through precise, efficient, and compassionate pathology collection services.

* Certificate III in Pathology, Pathology Collections or Pathology Assistance, and/or previous experience in a pathology setting or a demonstrated ability to learn all aspects of the pre analytical environment, including phlebotomy.
* Demonstrated ability to manage tasks in a demanding environment where there are competing priorities and time constraints.
* Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers, internal and external.
* Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills combined with the ability to investigate and resolve general issues.
* Proficient computer skills including high attention to detail and data accuracy and the ability to operate and maintain pre analytical equipment.
* Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information in a laboratory setting, following relevant legislation, policies, and requirements.
* Willingness to participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster, including weekends, public holidays, and night shifts, and the ability to travel to any site or location within the operational area as required.
