Role Overview The IT Policy Specialist will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide IT and AI governance policies in a rapidly evolving technology environment. This role ensures that all technology practices—including emerging AI systems—adhere to organisational standards, security requirements, regulatory frameworks, ethical principles, and industry best practices.The successful candidate will work closely with IT, cyber security, data governance, architecture, and AI solution teams to introduce robust policy controls that support safe, responsible, and compliant adoption of AI and digital systems.
Key Responsibilities 1. Policy Development & Governance
* Develop, update, and maintain IT policies, standards, and procedures covering AI systems, security, data handling, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
* Establish frameworks for ethical AI, responsible use, transparency, model governance, and system accountability.
* Ensure policies align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organisational risk appetite.
2. AI Governance & Risk Management
* Create and manage AI governance frameworks covering model lifecycle management, data usage, explainability, monitoring, and human oversight.
* Identify and assess risks associated with AI systems, including bias, data privacy, and incorrect automation.
* Work with security teams to enforce compliance with cyber policies and AI-related security controls.
3. Compliance, Audit & Assurance
* Monitor compliance against IT and AI policies across the organisation.
* Conduct policy reviews, gap analyses, and compliance assessments.
* Lead internal audit activities related to IT governance and AI operations.
4. Technology Enablement & Change Management
* Support the safe introduction of new AI and IT systems by defining operational, security, and integration policies.
* Provide policy guidance to architecture and delivery teams during design and implementation.
* Drive awareness and adoption of new policies through training, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
5. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
* Work closely with IT operations, cyber security, data governance, architecture, HR, legal, procurement, and business units.
* Consult and advise senior management on governance risks and policy deviations.
* Represent the organisation in external forums related to AI ethics, compliance, and industry standards.
Key Skills & Experience
* Strong experience in IT policy development, IT governance, or technology risk management.
* Understanding of AI systems, machine learning lifecycle, responsible AI principles, and model governance.
