Are you a technically skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for improving asset performance, reliability, and integrity in complex processing environments? We're seeking a versatile professional to join our team.
About the Role
You'll lead and support programs that enhance equipment performance, reduce downtime, and ensure compliance with statutory and operational standards. Whether you're driving root cause analysis or executing improvement projects, your work will directly impact plant efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support the development of maintenance budgets and monitor costs to identify improvement opportunities.
2. Develop and refine maintenance procedures, methods, and testing protocols.
3. Provide technical support to the maintenance team and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns.
4. Inspect critical jobs to ensure work is performed to standard and specifications.
5. Perform engineering calculations to support maintenance and improvement decisions.
6. Define repair scopes in collaboration with vendors and assist in developing repair procedures.
7. Support project engineering teams in assessing the maintainability of new and modified installations.
8. Define and implement training programs for maintenance equipment and practices.
9. Apply value analysis to repair/replace, repair/design, and make/buy decisions.
10. Lead and execute small to medium asset improvement and integrity projects.
11. Ensure statutory compliance through inspection governance and method development.
12. Conduct lifecycle costing analysis to optimize whole-of-life asset strategies.
13. Administer change management processes, including drawing updates and documentation.
14. Maintain high HSE standards and promote safe work practices across all activities.
About You
You're a proactive, hands-on engineer with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and a strategic mindset. You thrive in dynamic environments and are driven to deliver results across both reliability and asset improvement domains.
To be successful in the role you will bring
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.(or related discipline)
Minimum 10 years' experience in a chemical or metallurgical processing plant in reliability, maintenance or asset improvement roles
Expertise in
15. RCM methodologies and failure investigations.
16. Rotating equipment and condition monitoring techniques.
17. Pressure equipment and process tanks, including welding defects and inspection codes.
18. Corrosion management, materials selection, and metallurgy.
19. Risk management and decision-making frameworks.
20. Australian standards, OHS regulations, and international codes.
21. Project management and change management principles.
22. Lifecycle costing and asset strategy development.
Proficiency in
23. SAP CMMS and Availability Work Bench (AWB) experience.
24. Familiarity with AS/NZS 3788 and structural design codes.
25. Reverse engineering for obsolete plant equipment.
26. Competent in Microsoft Office Suite.
