Geriatric Medicine Specialist Role
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain advanced training in Geriatric Medicine at a leading acute referral, teaching, and research centre. You will be responsible for managing the care of patients allocated to your department, working collaboratively with Registrars, Consultants, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals.

* Manage patient care across various settings, including inpatient and outpatient services.
* Develop and implement high-quality patient care plans, ensuring seamless transitions between clinical attachments.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
* Participate in continuous quality improvement and education activities, contributing to the development of best practices in Geriatric Medicine.
As a Geriatric Medicine specialist, you will be expected to demonstrate:
* High-level skills in negotiation and communication, with the ability to empathize with patients and their families.
* Able to work under pressure without compromising patient care, making sound clinical decisions and problem-solving at both the clinical and individual levels.
* Competency in routine and common procedural ward-based skills, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Requirements include:
* Bachelor of Medicine (or equivalent) registrable with AHPRA, with appropriate post-graduate experience and competency in routine ward-based procedures.
* Up-to-date understanding of contemporary medical practices, treatments, and investigations, along with sound knowledge of occupational health and equal opportunity principles.
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with patients and their families.
* Demonstrated ability to make sound clinical decisions under pressure, adapt positively to change, and uphold high standards of patient care and safety.
