💧 Ready to make a splash? Dive into a career that makes a real impact!
If you're passionate about water, curious about flood risk management, and eager to shape resilient communities, this is your chance to start strong with BG&E.
🌊 Make Waves Where It Matters
* Work on real-world challenges like flood modelling and flood risk assessment and mitigation, risk planning and waterway design that directly affect how people and infrastructure respond to climate and environmental change.
* Be mentored by industry leaders and collaborate with a nationwide team of flood specialists, hydrologists, modellers, and engineers with opportunities for external training and attendance at industry events.
* Grow your career in a company that feels small enough to care, but big enough to offer exciting national opportunities across Australia.
From day one, you’ll be immersed in projects that shape how communities prepare for and respond to flooding, water and risk management. Whether it’s modelling flood behaviour for major infrastructure or planning for flood emergency evacuation, your work will help protect people, places, and the environment.
Here’s a taste of what you could dive into:
🚆 Major infrastructure such as Sydney Metro & M1 Raymond Terrace – Supporting major transport infrastructure with flood resilience strategies
🌧️ Catchment-wide flood studies – Helping councils understand and manage flood risk across entire regions planning for a resilient future
🏘️ Urban development – Creating sustainable flooding and drainage solutions for communities
🚨 Flood evacuation planning – Designing safe, data-driven evacuation plans for vulnerable communities
🌦️ Event based assessments – Investigating flood impacts and designing for flood recovery
You won’t just be running models - you’ll be solving real-world problems, collaborating with experts, and seeing your work make a difference on the ground.
🌦️ What You’ll Be Doing
As a Graduate in our Flooding and Hydrology Team, you’ll:
* Build and run hydrologic and hydraulic models using tools like TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, DRAINS, WBNM and more
* Analyse GIS data and produce flood maps that inform critical decision making
* Design flood mitigation measures, scour protection, and cross-drainage systems
* Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and contribute to interdisciplinary project outcomes
* Prepare technical reports and engage with stakeholders
* Conduct site inspections and walkovers to see your work in action
🌟 What You Bring
* A degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
* A curious mind and a drive to solve complex problems
* Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit
* A keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks
* Full working rights in Australia
* Internship experience in flooding and hydrology is a plus—but not essential
