About the Role

We are looking for a motivated RVN to join our team as a Surgery Nurse, where your passion for surgical nursing will be both recognised and nurtured.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to diversify your skillset by working with complex referral cases within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

You'll play a vital part in ensuring the highest standards of patient care throughout their treatment journey, in a hospital equipped with fantastic facilities and supported by expert specialists.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Managing a variety of surgical anaesthesia cases
* Wound management
* Diagnostic imaging
* Scrubbing in for surgical procedures
* Supporting our wards team with the post-operative care of surgical patients.

Whilst the majority of the caseload focuses on soft tissue, orthopaedics, and neurology cases, you'll also gain exposure to other disciplines, including cardiology and ophthalmology.

Our recent expansion has provided us with a new purpose-built theatre complex, a two-storey facility housing a large client reception and waiting area, 10 new consulting rooms, along with a new rehabilitation centre.

The improvements do not stop here, with further additions to include a new diagnostic suite and ICU area, plus much more.

We have an outstanding team of recognised specialists across a multitude of disciplines. We also have a dedicated rehabilitation team who provide physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to aide post-operative recovery.

The care and comfort of our patients is always at the front of our minds. Our advanced nursing team provide excellent care to all patients during their stay at SCVS.

We also have a team of dedicated veterinary care assistants to ensure patients feel reassured and comforted during their stay.

You will be joining a friendly team with our 2 existing Surgical Nurses, with the support of 3 Surgical VCAs and guided by our Head Surgery Nurse.


What You Will Bring To The Team

We are looking for a dynamic individual with high attention to detail and an empathetic approach to patient care.

* The successful candidate should possess the confidence to take initiative and actively contribute to the care of our patients.
* A keen interest in surgical cases is essential.
* Previous experience in a referral practice is beneficial.
* A Surgery or Anaesthesia certificate would be desirable.


Shift Pattern

This is a full-time, 40hr/week position on a 5 week rolling rota.

The shift times are primarily 9am-6pm Monday-Friday, and 1:5 weekends with TOIL.

The weeks either side of your scheduled weekend, you will work a 4-day week 8am-5pm to accommodate your lieu days.

Please note there is no scheduled on-call or OOHs work with this role, however occasional overtime may be required in the event of an emergency or if one of your cases runs over the expected time.
