Overview The Community Liaison & Pantry Volunteer role provides a community connection welcoming visitors to Hambleden House, ensures the smooth operation of the Food Pantry and supports the delivery of events.
Responsibilities Pick up donationsReceive donations including from the community and third party organisations (egOzHarvest and Fare Share) logging details and packing into food pantry cupboards, fridge and freezerMaintain stock, rotate stock and ensure the hygiene, cleanliness of the food pantry at all timesPack food hampers e.g. fruit, vegetables, bread and other food products for clients according to their needsGreeting and welcoming visitors to the Community CentreTaking enquiries from community members in person and via phoneDirecting visitors and enquiries to the appropriate person or place within the officeSource and provide basic information through existing resource such as flyers, directories, databases and the internetProvide practical assistance with completing formsMaintain a tidy presentable and well stocked reception areaSupport the delivery of community events e.g. set up, pack down, catering etcObserve road rules, road condition and drive safely at all times in accordance with Mission Australia's Fleet policyFollow all reasonable directions provided by Manager or delegate Suitable for Centrelink Volunteers, Families with Children, Skilled Volunteers Commitment Regular - more than 6 months Training The volunteer will be provided with an induction and orientation to their workplace Time required Approximately 3-16 hours per week, flexible commitment according to availability.
The rostering of hours and days will be negotiated to meet the availability of the volunteer and the needs of the service.
Mission Australia is committed to Volunteering Australia's National Standards for Involving Volunteers.
Hence the engagement of ongoing volunteers is generally restricted to a maximum of 16 hours per week.
