Primary objective
As the Assistant Principal provide high quality educational leadership to improve the educational outcomes of students,
maintain the quality of teaching and learning programs, and nurture positive relationships between students, teachers, the
community and stakeholders.
Context statement
Rosebery Primary School is a energetic learning community with approximately 400 students from Preschool to Year 6. The
school features architecturally designed, innovative learning spaces that support a style of cooperative learning among
students and the use of restorative practices to build positive relationships. We have a significant focus on the Performing
Arts and on the establishment of strong family and community partnerships.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Facilitate the professional development of staff to ensure delivery of quality integrated approaches and best practices
around student management, classroom management and positive relationships.
2. Support and assist teachers in the implementation of best practice in pedagogical practice, including the fostering of
innovative and creative approaches to learning facilitation.
3. Assist with the development of strong links between school and community to ensure improving educational outcomes.
4. Coordinate school systems and resources to ensure education services are consistent with best practice, and school and
departmental policies. This includes timetabling, relief staffing, and leadership in professional development of staff.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Applicant can demonstrate they have educational leadership experience, knowledge and skills to successfully carry out
the role of Assistant Principal within this schools context through:
- Collaboration and partnerships
- Strong interpersonal skills
- A positive approach to student and class management through behaviour and wellbeing
2. Experience in educational leadership, with a proven record of successfully initiating, managing and responding to whole
school priorities to achieve positive outcomes for the school community.
