About the role The Head of Internal Audit is responsible for leading an independent, objective assurance and advisory function that strengthens governance, risk management and internal controls across the fund.
Reporting to the CFO as well as to the Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee, this role delivers the annual audit plan and drives continuous improvement in audit practices.
This role is critical in enhancing organisational performance and integrity by providing trusted insights to senior leaders, supporting effective decision-making, and ensuring the control environment remains robust in a dynamic and regulated environment.
This is a permanent role based in either Melbourne or Sydney.
Key Accountabilities
Lead Internal Audit Strategy & Function:
Develop and deliver a risk-based internal audit strategy and 3-year audit plan aligned to organisational objectives and regulatory standards, driving continuous improvement in audit methodology and practices.
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance:
Act as a trusted advisor to the Audit & Finance Committee, Executive and senior leaders, providing clear, insightful reporting on audit outcomes, emerging risks and control themes while maintaining independence.
Audit Delivery & Oversight:
Oversee end-to-end audit execution across the fund, ensuring high-quality, practical findings and effective tracking and closure of audit recommendations.
Risk & Control Environment Uplift:
Assess and provide insights on the effectiveness of controls, compliance frameworks and operational processes, supporting continuous strengthening of the fund’s risk management environment.
Risk & Compliance Accountability:
Own and manage risks, controls and compliance obligations for the function, ensuring alignment with risk appetite, timely escalation, and effective incident and issue management.
Advisory & Value Contribution:
Provide independent assurance and risk insights on key transformation initiatives and business changes, supporting improved risk culture and decision-making across the organisation.
What we’re looking for
Significant leadership experience within internal audit in regulated environments
Deep expertise in governance, risk management and control frameworks
Strong ability to influence Boards, Executives and senior stakeholders
Proven experience delivering risk-based audit plans and leading audit teams
Relevant qualifications in accounting, finance or business, with professional certifications (e.g. CIA, CA, CPA) desirable
