We're looking for a mid experienced (1-5 years) Frontend Developer to serve on multidisciplinary project teams with an active contribution in value of iterative development and user-centered design. You'll also serve as an expert and educator in your discipline, establishing new practices that can work across departments and providing guidance and training for other fellows and staff. Contribute to our Software projects using Github for collaboration and code review. For a flavor of our current stack, we maintain projects that use React (Redux knowledge is mandatory and valuable to have Node.JS, GraphQL and RxJS). Serve as a core contributor on multi-disciplinary project teams to improve our products. Assist in scoping and prototyping activities for future design and development projects. Be visible to staff and stakeholders and regularly undertake activities to engage and build trust with people involved in area of work. Engage with the wider web development community, identifying best practices we can adopt and sharing our experiences.
Responsibilities
Develop large-scale interfaces, experiences, and applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React.js, web standards, open source software).
Collaborate on backend data modeling and business logic as needed.
Engage with a wide range of digital specialists and stakeholders to define the best approaches to a problem.
Adapt quickly to emerging technologies and practices.
Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use.
Contribute to code reviews and collaboration through GitHub.
Qualifications
1 to 5 years of professional experience developing large-scale interfaces, experiences, and applications.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including the DOM and the JavaScript object model.
Detailed understanding of React.js and its core principles; experience with Redux/Flux is desirable.
Experience building user-side web interfaces and applications using modern JavaScript frameworks.
Willingness to code (or pair on) backend data modeling and business logic.
Ability to engage with diverse stakeholders to define best approaches.
Ability to quickly learn emerging technologies and practices.
Building reusable components and front-end libraries for future usage.
A passion for product development and a commitment to improving city services.
