**The opportunity**
Our highly valued client is a federal government agency, who are seeking an EL1 Assistant Director, Executive & Corporate Communications, to take on a leadership role with a focus on managing internal communications.
- Initial 12 month contract with options to extend
- Can be Richmond or Geelong based, with 3 days per week in the office and 2 from home
- Daily rate of $602+super on offer
**The role**
In this role, you will actively manage stakeholder relationships, and support communication from the People and Culture division to staff across the organisation, and other relevant internal messaging. Your responsibilities would include:
- Contributing to the strategic direction of projects and business improvement initiatives, driving the strategic and co-ordinated management of targeted communications and engagement activities
- Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders through a communications and engagement business partnering model within the Agency, guiding the team with best practice ways to provide advice, quality assurance and support to business areas to meet their communication objectives
- Leading staff to deliver timely, innovative, efficient and evidence-based communications and engagement strategies, plans, content and activities that support Corporate Plan objectives
- Using reporting metrics to review the impact of communication and engagement activity and identify opportunities for improvement
- Preparing high-quality, clear and accessible written content that meets the needs of participants and other audiences and aligns with the brand
- Scanning and interpreting a complex government and social landscape to identify and mitigate reputational risks associated with, communication and engagement activities
- Identifying and mitigate reputational risks associated with communication, engagement and business activities
- Fostering creativity and innovation in content creation across a range of channels, sharing best practice and new skills in the team
**Skills and experience**
To succeed in this role you will need:
- Extensive experience in communications, particularly in internal, strategic, and corporate communications
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills, and the ability to maintain relationships across large and complex organisations
- Previous leadership experience, and the and skills in managing a team
- Strong skills in communications planning, content development, and ability to provide advice to key business areas
- Previous government experience will be highly regarded
