About The Role
The Engineering Design Officer provides civil design expertise to support the City's Capital Works Program. The role develops compliant design documentation, concept plans, and cost estimates to enable funding, procurement, and construction. It ensures alignment with statutory requirements, industry standards, and Council policies while collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver safe, cost-effective, and sustainable infrastructure.
Duties
Key Responsibilities Include
* Prepare and deliver design documentation that meets objectives for quality, safety, compliance, and value engineering.
* Apply continuous improvement using the Plan-Do-Track-Check-Act cycle.
* Ensure timely delivery of capital projects with high-quality outcomes.
* Review and improve design systems and standards to strengthen the design function.
Who We Are Looking For
To be considered for this position, you will need:
* Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Expertise in civil infrastructure design (roads, drainage) and cost estimation.
* Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.
* Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
* Knowledge of statutory regulations, industry standards, and Council policies.
* Basic understanding of surveying methods and equipment.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Strong technical writing for reports and documentation.
* Current National Police Clearance and valid WA "C" or "CA" driver's licence.
