We are seeking a commercially astute and strategically driven General Manager – Network Development to lead the expansion of our National retail footprint.
This pivotal leadership role is responsible for shaping and executing United's network development strategy, delivering a strong pipeline of new service station sites, and ensuring the successful rollout of 20–25 new locations per annum.
Reporting to the Executive Director – Real Estate, you will drive end-to-end development across Australia, leveraging both third-party developers and United's extensive landbank.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute the National network development strategy aligned with growth objectives
* Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline of new retail opportunities
* Maximise value from United's landbank through Design & Construct programs
* Partner with developers and joint venture stakeholders to scale network growth
Project Delivery & Performance
* Oversee end-to-end delivery of new retail sites across multiple jurisdictions
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality and safety standards
* Drive strong cost control, capital discipline, and governance
* Manage multiple concurrent developments while optimising long-term asset performance
Leadership & Team Development
* Build, lead, and develop a high-performing national team
* Foster a results-driven, accountable, and collaborative culture
* Establish clear performance expectations and capability development pathways
Stakeholder & Partner Management
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with builders, developers, agents, and consultants
* Leverage an established network of partners to deliver consistent outcomes at scale
* Manage internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities
* Ensure all developments meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
* Proactively identify and manage commercial and delivery risks
* Enforce contractor safety and compliance standards
About You
* Extensive experience in fuels, retail, or large-scale property development
* Strong commercial acumen with capital investment accountability
* Deep experience in Design & Construct models and third-party developer engagement
* Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
* Established network of builders and development partners
* Tertiary qualifications in property, construction, engineering, business, or related discipline (preferred)
