Overview
District Sales Manager – SA and NT, Australia. The position is based in South Australia to cover SA and NT and surrounds, with potential involvement in activities in other parts of Australia. The role focuses on growing the Australian market with Industrial Scientific’s gas detection products, solutions and services, working with customers and distributor partners throughout the sales cycle.
Responsibilities
- Selling gas detection solutions through distribution and directly to customers in Australia
- Develop and generate New Sales Opportunities/Business Development
- Position Industrial Scientific suite of products, services and iNet as a service (major focus)
- Increase and self-generate current sales leads across both iNet and traditional sales
- Prospect for new business, prepare/present proposals and maintain existing relationships
- Identify new prospective contacts through online research, outbound calls, referrals, events and other sales activities
- Meet sales goals as set by management
- Develop customer base to meet all sales forecasts and budgets
- Identify, manage, and evaluate current and new distribution channels
- Train distributor partners
- Maximize profit and maintain high level of product and vendor knowledge
- Document planned and completed activities; attend exhibitions where appropriate
- Maintain CRM (Salesforce) and accurately capture sales funnel; attend sales meetings with updated reports
- Complete relevant documentation for sales progress
- Provide sales and technical assistance to customers as needed; ensure high levels of customer satisfaction

Qualifications
- At least 3 to 5 years of sales experience in selling to Australian-based industrial customers (e.g., Oil and Gas, Mining, Chemicals, Utilities)
- Experience working with and supporting distribution sales channels
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships via phone and email
- Goal oriented, ethical, and results driven
- Motivation and creativity to reach prospects and create conversations
- Organizational skills and a self-starter attitude
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding goals
- Commitment to customer service
- Willing to travel up to 50% around Australia as needed
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Fluent in English (native speaking/writing proficiency)
- Candidates must have the right to live and work in Australia
- Gas detection or industrial safety experience (sales, technical or customer service) is an advantage
- Sales management experience is an advantage
- Experience selling software/services such as maintenance programs and rental contracts is an advantage
- Proficiency in Salesforce.com is an advantage
