Overview
The position of Mobile Plant Operator involves using various farm equipment to perform tasks such as planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops. The operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing machinery, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
Salary & Benefits
Salary: $69,000 - $75,000 per annum + superannuation.
Responsibilities
Operate tractors and other farming equipment for hay, silage, and other groundwork; and for planting, cultivation, and harvesting of potatoes.
Adjust speed, height, and depth of tractors and other farming equipment.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment.
Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting harvested crops to storage or distribution sites.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations on the farm.
Document and report on planting, cultivation, and harvesting.
Qualifications & Experience
Driver's license:
A valid C Class driver's license is required.
Qualifications:
Certificate II is preferred but not required.
Experience:
1 to 3 years operating agricultural machinery; if no qualifications, a minimum of 3 years' experience is required.
Mechanical aptitude:
Ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs is beneficial.
Physical fitness:
The job can involve physical labour and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Safety awareness:
Strong understanding of safety procedures is essential.
Communication & teamwork skills:
Ability to communicate effectively and work within a team.
