About The Role
We’re on the lookout for a visionary accounting professional - someone with both sharp financial expertise and strategic insight - to join our Financial Services team on a contract basis and help shape the city’s financial future.
In this role, you will take the lead in influencing Council’s financial policy direction, including the development of the Long-Term Financial Plan (LTFP) 2026/27 - a cornerstone in delivering sustainable outcomes for our community.
As a trusted financial business partner to our City Futures division, you will provide more than just numbers. You’ll deliver insightful analysis, robust modelling, and forward-looking advice that directly informs complex decision-making. From supporting regular financial reporting and budgeting, to shaping strategy with evidence-based insights, your expertise will help drive innovation and resilience across Council’s operations.

About You
You are a proactive, collaborative, and analytical thinker with a passion for driving financial sustainability and delivering quality outcomes. You bring:
- A degree-level qualification in Accounting or related field (essential).
- Full CPA/CA membership or equivalent professional qualification (essential).
- Strong experience in financial modelling, forecasting, and preparing forward financial estimates.
- Proven ability to prepare and coordinate divisional budgets in a large and complex organisation.
- Highly developed financial and management accounting skills, with advanced MS Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Knowledge of TechOne and experience in Local Government (highly desirable)

The Financial Services team are responsible for delivering an efficient and effective finance function for the organisation. Services include financial reporting, strategic management accounting, budgeting, long term financial planning, taxation and internal control.
