FY26: Paraeducator Level I (504), Newport Mill Middle School – 6.5hrs TPT, No Benefits
Montgomery County Public Schools is hiring a part-time Paraeducator for 6.5 hours per teaching period at Newport Mill Middle School.
The position offers no benefits and the application deadline is December 18, ****.
Summary of Responsibilities
Assist the principal and teachers in promoting student learning and well-being for students who are diploma bound and have 504 accommodations.
Facilitate mastery of grade-level or higher curriculum in general education settings.
Pull out students for individualized or small-group reinforcement of instruction.
Provide instructional, classroom-management and clerical support to teachers and professional staff in all classroom environments.
Continue planned instructional activities during temporary teacher absences.
Perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, sitting on the floor, walking and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
Adapt to flexible scheduling, change of location and outside duty as required.
Candidate Qualifications
Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and MCCSP policy.
Ability to assist with implementation of the instructional program and monitor student behavior.
Patient, effective work with children, young adults and staff.
Follow written and verbal instructions and perform all required tasks.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Support students with special needs.
Proficiency with Google Workspace, MS Office and web-based instructional tools.
Ability to quickly learn and meet the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
Education, Training, and Experience
Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
College coursework: minimum 9 credit hours related to education (behavior management, instructional strategies).
Preferred: one year of experience working with students in structured educational settings.
Alternative qualifications: at least 48 college credits plus two years of experience in a structured setting such as daycare, pre-school, or extended-day programs.
Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment with a qualifying score of 455 or higher is required.
Other combinations of applicable education, training or experience may be considered.
