Primary objective
The Assistant Director, Attraction leads and implements the strategic direction on how best to attract high quality educators to Northern
Territory Government schools. Leading a small team, the roles drives a data-informed and systematic approach to talent attraction,
delivering innovative initiatives that position the department as an employer of choice by strengthening brand awareness, building engaged
talent pipelines and increasing job applications across all regions of the Territory.
Context statement
The Department of Education and Training delivers, supports, and regulates early childhood, school education, and training services across
the Northern Territory. With 153 government schools across six regions—Central, Big Rivers, Barkly, Top End, Darwin and East Arnhem—
71 percent are located in remote or very remote communities. This role leads educator attraction efforts across all regions. The Talent,
Attraction and Recruitment team ensures the department is equipped to meet current and future workforce needs by positioning the
organisation competitively in the education labour market.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Lead and manage a small team to design and implement the department's educator attraction strategy and initiatives in line with the
department's strategic goal of retaining and attracting teachers to Northern Territory Government schools.
2. Oversee the development of innovative marketing campaigns and initiatives that strengthens the Teach in the Territory brand and
drives candidate engagement.
1. Develop and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns and build relationships with stakeholders to grow talent pipelines.
2. Build and sustain partnerships with internal and external, local and national level stakeholders, contributing expertise and leveraging
networks to achieve outcomes aligned to agency priorities.
1. Undertakes market research to monitor emerging trends and issues, adjusting attraction strategies to remain competitive and effective.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Highly developed experience in marketing and attracting talent with demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing highly
effective workforce attraction campaigns, leading to increased brand awareness, stronger engagement and increased job applications.
1. Proven leadership experience with ability to influence a diverse range of people.
2. Extensive knowledge and experience of contemporary talent attraction practices.
3. Demonstrated ability to translate the department's strategic priorities into operational resourcing goals.
4. Strong project management and organisational qualities to work across the department to deliver initiatives.
5. Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to confidently build and maintain effective networks and teams, undertake consultation and
liaison with a range of internal and external stakeholders including ability to interact with people from diverse cultures.
7. Advanced written communication and demonstrated experience in the preparation of strategic advice, briefings and other detailed
reports and correspondence.
Desirable
1. Relevant tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or a related discipline.
