Position: Network Engineer
Location: Anywhere in Australia except WA (remote possible for Eastern time zone)
Employment: Full‑time, Permanent
Security Requirement: Australian citizen required (resident status not considered). Baseline/NV1 or higher security clearance is an advantage.
About the Role
As a member of Datacom’s Network Managed Services team, you will deliver network solutions, provide technical guidance, implement solutions and deliver timely updates while maintaining excellent customer service and team collaboration.
The role may require occasional evening and weekend work agreed with the customer. You will work across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra hubs, and fully remote if you live on the Eastern side of Australia.
What You’ll Do
You will work on a variety of networking and security operations, including client WAN and LAN, firewalls/security operations and IP‑based telephony systems. You will respond to changing customer, technology and internal stakeholder requirements and evolve your role to meet those needs.
What You’ll Bring
- Solid understanding and experience within network environments
- Knowledge of networking protocols, including LAN protocols, BGP, RIP, NAT, OSPF/EIGRP, TCP/IP and Wireless (Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, Arista)
- Experience with router and switch technology and protocol analysis; ability to configure, deploy, upgrade and troubleshoot
- Experience with DNS configuration and management
- Exposure to Cloud Solutions: Azure, AWS
- Experience with firewall requests, analysis and implementation
- Experience with firewall analysis tools for diagnosis and troubleshooting
- Exposure to load‑balancing technologies such as F5, Global Server Load Balancing
- Exposure to firewall/network security technologies such as Fortinet, Checkpoint, Cisco, Palo Alto, IPS, VPN
- Experience supporting VPNs
- Experience with IP address management, NAT and PAT
- Industry certifications are highly regarded
- Holds CCNA Certification, CCNP preferred
