Position Information

Lucas Heights Community School is located in the Sutherland Shire suburb of Barden Ridge. Current enrolment is 800 students (K‐6: 240; secondary: 560). The school has a K‐12 support unit with 8 classes and 48 students, including 40 First Nations students. Our teaching staff deliver learning programs for diverse student needs, supporting students with specific learning needs through personalised learning and support plans. The school prides itself on exceptional transition to high school programs and future‐focused learning. Staff professional learning, quality teaching, collaboration and growth, and attainment in literacy and numeracy are major focuses.

Specific Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, we require:

* Demonstrated ability to lead improvement in HSIE 7–12 through strategic curriculum and assessment design that embeds differentiation, task adjustment, and high potential and gifted education to drive equity, excellence, and expanded participation in HSIE courses.
* Proven capacity to lead and inspire a faculty culture of high expectations, professional growth, and collaboration, ensuring consistency, accountability, and clear evidence of impact on student learning and engagement.
* Demonstrated capacity as a highly visible and effective leader who works collaboratively as a member of the school executive to strengthen a positive, high‐expectations school culture and lead strategic initiatives that deliver measurable, whole‐school improvement in student learning, wellbeing and engagement.

General Selection Criteria

* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
* Well‐developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

* An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this opportunity.
