**Transport Service is a Group **within Department of Transport & Planning, and is responsible for delivering safe, reliable and accessible transport infrastructure and services to all Victorians.
**About the Role**
The Safety Officer sits within Transport Services and is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of occupational health and safety programs and procedures to ensure Department of Transport and Planning's proactive safety culture in the division. The role will also support compliance with safety obligations and will work closely with the Corporate Safety Teams.

**Your outcomes and accountabilties,**
**Improved Safety Culture **- Contributes to a significant improvement in safety culture across the region, working collaboratively with Safety Advisors and the broader Corporate Safety Team. This will be achieved through a combination of training staff, information sharing, developing Safe Work Method Statements, safety management plan and risk registers, promoting best practice and conducting audit activities.
**Compliance **- Ensure safety programs and procedures in the region comply with safety legislation and Department of Transport & Planning guidelines.
**Risk Assessments **- Ensure safety risk assessments are completed for all works by working with project managers and site supervisors to develop their skills
**Assurance Activities **- Completes assurance activities in a consultative manner, resulting in improved safety on work sites.
**Safety Information Communication **- Ensure safety information has been well communicated within the region.
Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.
In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities.
