Commercial Lead Role

This is a high-level position that oversees the commercial activities and contract negotiations within the Australian Standard for Defence Contracting framework.

The role involves ensuring compliance with Defence procurement policies, mitigating risks, and optimising contractual outcomes aligned with the company's strategic objectives and risk appetite.


About You

We are looking for an experienced professional with extensive knowledge in Defence contracting and procurement, strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, as well as relevant tertiary qualifications in business, law, commerce, or supply chain management.

* Contract & Commercial Management:
o Lead and negotiate Defence contracts using ASDEFCON templates.
o Ensure compliance with Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs) and Defence procurement policies.
o Identify, assess, and report risks, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are in place.
o Provide strategic guidance on contract terms, risk management, and commercial strategies.
o Manage commercial contracts, subcontracts, and IP licensing agreements, ensuring alignment with company risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
o Contribute to the full procurement lifecycle, including RFT preparation, evaluation, and contract award.
o Develop procurement strategies that align with Defence requirements and enterprise objectives, in conjunction with key stakeholders.
* Risk & Compliance Management:
o Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks in line with the company's risk appetite.
o Ensure compliance with ASDEFCON, CPRs, and Defence security requirements.
o Develop commercial policies that support regulatory compliance and business objectives.
o Support governance processes, internal reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
o Foster and maintain strong relationships with Defence stakeholders, industry partners, and suppliers.
o Facilitate contract performance reviews and manage contract variations or disputes.
o Provide commercial guidance to internal teams, including finance and project management.
