Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Technician to support the design, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers and other technical staff to ensure electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist electrical engineers in the design, development, and modification of electrical systems and equipment
* Install, test, commission, and maintain electrical systems, components, and machinery
* Conduct inspections, diagnostics, fault-finding, and troubleshooting of electrical issues
* Prepare and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
* Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing of electrical equipment
* Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, workplace safety regulations, and quality requirements
* Record test results, maintenance activities, and prepare technical reports
* Assist with procurement of electrical components and materials
* Support site work, including commissioning, upgrades, and shutdowns where required
* Liaise with engineers, contractors, and other trades to complete projects on time
Required Skills & Competencies
* Strong understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and control systems
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Competence in electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools
* Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good communication and documentation skills
Qualifications & Experience
* Certificate IV, Diploma, or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field
* Relevant industry experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician or similar role
* Electrical trade qualification or restricted electrical license (desirable)
* Knowledge of Australian electrical standards and WHS requirements
* Valid driver's license (if site work is required)
Desirable (but not essential)
* Experience with PLCs, instrumentation, or automation systems
* Experience in industrial, manufacturing, mining, or construction environments
* White Card and other site safety certifications

Pay: $75,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
