Head of Legal and Compliance
This role is crucial in providing strategic legal advice to the Executive Director and the Leadership Team, managing compliance reviews and audits, and supporting corporate objectives.
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our team as the Head of Legal and Compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide expert legal advice on complex issues impacting business operations, including contract negotiation and regulatory compliance.
* Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program aligned with industry standards and applicable laws.
* Conduct regular compliance audits and reviews to identify potential issues and ensure corrective actions are taken.
* Advise the Board and its committees on governance matters, working closely with the Chair, Executive Director and Company Secretary.
* Analyse legal risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests.
* Stay abreast of relevant laws and regulations, proactively advising leadership on necessary actions.
Education, Skills & Experience:
* Significant experience in legal practice, ideally with in-house counsel experience in a relevant industry.
* Proven leadership and team management skills.
* Deep understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including corporate law, employment law, and education-specific compliance requirements.
* Strong business acumen and ability to translate legal complexities into practical business solutions.
* High attention to detail, excellent written, presentational, and communication skills.
